I can’t do it without you.
This world is extremely tempting and packages things to look really good and fulfilling! I can’t count how many times I have fallen into those temptations in my lifetime. The money, the girls, the popularity, you name it has been in my face trying to get me to give in. When I moved to LA the people that I was hanging out with were into drugs, partying, fame, money, sex, and more. The more I hung out with them, the deeper I got into chasing that lifestyle. I knew it was wrong but my friends were such a big influence that it overpowered me and I kept falling into those temptations.
One day I woke up and began to question myself and what I was doing and it was there that I picked up my bible and started to read. I then got plugged into a church and new friends came into my life; friends that actually cared for my well being and wanted to do what was right in the eyes of the Lord. My life changed dramatically with the people that I hung out with and it was only then that I began to really understand what it meant to have a relationship with Christ.
We are meant to be in relationship with other believers as it talks about in the bible; Iron sharpens Iron. Christians, we need each other! We need to be spending time together to grow in our faith so we can go out into the world to tell others about the Gospel of Christ.
Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
If you hang out with the wise you will become wise. If you walk with fools you will suffer harm and become a fool. Does this mean not to hang out with fools? Nope, it means to have your foundation in a place that you will be encouraged and built up in Christ while being able minister to the fools so they can become wise in Christ too.
- Do you have any Christians in your life that you meet with frequently to lift you up and encourage you in the faith?
- Who are your closest friends? Do they influence you for bad or do you influence them for good?
