“If nobody knows what I am doing, then it doesn’t matter and has no effect on others.” That was my mentality and justification for doing things in secret and trying to feel better about doing what I shouldn’t be involved in. What happened was, I ended up going deeper and deeper into a life of seclusion and separation. Even though people didn’t know about what I was doing in my private life, it still had an impact on others. I began to spend less time hanging out with them and felt guilty when I was with them. So the fade began and because of guilt and self condemnation I went into hiding. What I failed to realize was, that was exactly what the Devil wanted me to do; to remove myself from the protection of the body of believers so that he could go into a full force attack on my mind. He was winning the battle and taking me out of the game. Away from my protection, I was being eaten alive!
That is the strategy of the enemy; if he can get you away from the flock (the family of Christ), you are more vulnerable for attack and he can really mess with your mind, bring guilt and condemnation and try to prevent you from the truth of how important the Church is. It all starts with a compromise and before you know it you are fully entrenched with believing the lies of Satan and living a life alone.
We are created to live life with each other, not to separate ourselves. The early Christians met together daily to encourage one another and help each other out. Why has this changed? Why do we feel like we can go to church for 2 hours a week and then go and take on the world? We can’t do this life alone and need people in our lives to cheer us on when we need a lift, and to help correct us when we are not walking in righteousness with the Lord. We are created to do life together. When we don’t, GOOD LUCK! Because the enemy will come in and tear you down and do what ever he can to pull you away from the body of Christ.
If you are not in the fellowship of other believers, plugged into a church and living life with like minded people, you are missing out on all the blessings of God and how He created us to help each other. If you are not prioritizing meeting together with other Christians and living life together, you are like a sheep who is alone and fully vulnerable of attack from the wolves. You are easy prey and will eventually be eaten alive unless you come back to your protection and join the flock of believers. Stop listening to the Devil’s whispers of lies, and come to a safe place that will help you grow closer to God.
WE ALL NEED EACH OTHER!
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:23-25
