The land was dry and water was not something that they could just go to the store and get.  It is extremely scarce and would take hours just to get to the nearest water source.  Daily, people of this village would wake up in the morning just to travel to get something that was a necessity to live; water.  They would then travel hours back to their village with buckets on their head and in their hands to supply the rest of their family for survival.  If the water goes dry or it doesn’t rain they would go days without water and understand what it means to be parched.  Their bodies LONG for what it needs to survive!

I spread out my hands to you; I thirst for you like a parched land. Psalm 143:6

Our souls long for that relationship with God, to be filled with his spirit daily.  If we suppress that, then it will become parched desiring to be filled.  God has put on our hearts a desire to know Him and seek after Him but we get so busy with our daily work that our life becomes dry. So how do we prevent our soul from being parched?  We must spend time with God in prayer and in His word daily and He will fill us with LIVING water.  Your soul will be like the parched land soaking it up because it has been longing for it for so long. If you wait your soul will dry up and eventually spiritual death will come just like when you body doesn’t have water you will die physically.

If you aren’t a Christian, the first thing is to understand that you are a sinner and your sins have to be paid for.  Christ paid for those sins when He died on a cross, all you have to do is repent (turn from your sins) and put your trust in Jesus Christ.

What are you filling yourself up with?  Christ? Things of this world?

Do you want more the Holy Spirit in your life?  Sin Separates us from that.
